These terms govern your use of the website at dbm.org.in and the services offered through it. The site is operated by Deaf Biblical Ministry ("DBM", "the Society", "we", "our" or "us"), a society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, with its office at Lane 3, Ward 10, Naharbari, Dimapur - 797116, Nagaland, India.
By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
How we handle personal information is set out separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
The public pages of this site are open to anyone. If you are under eighteen, please use the site with the involvement of a parent or guardian, and do not send us personal information without their agreement.
The school portal is not open to the public. Section 4 covers it.
You may read, print and share our public pages for personal, educational or non-commercial purposes, provided you do not alter them and you credit DBM.

The last point is not a formality. Our students are Deaf children, most of them minors. Material about them is published for a specific purpose with their parents' consent, and reusing it outside that purpose is a serious matter. See section 6.
We build this site to be usable by Deaf and disabled visitors, and we aim to meet recognised accessibility standards. If any part of the site is difficult for you to use, write to us and we will try to fix it or give you the information another way.
The school portal at school.dbm.org.in and the staff publishing area at /manage are restricted. Access is granted by DBM to named individuals for a specific role and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
If you hold an account:
Use of these systems is logged. We may review those logs where we have reason to believe an account is being misused or a record has been improperly accessed. Misuse may lead to withdrawal of access, disciplinary action under your terms of employment, and referral to the authorities where the law has been broken.
Parents and students who are given portal access may use it only to view their own or their child's information.
Donations made through this site are voluntary. Payments are handled by our payment gateway on its own systems, under its own terms. We do not receive or store your card, UPI or bank credentials.
All amounts are in Indian Rupees unless stated otherwise. Your bank or card issuer may add its own charges, which are outside our control.
DBM holds registration under sections 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. A donation receipt is issued for every donation. An 80G certificate is issued where the donation is eligible and you have supplied the details we are required to report, including your PAN. Whether you can actually claim the deduction depends on your own tax position, and we do not give tax advice.
A donation is a gift, and once processed it is normally final, because funds are committed to programmes shortly after receipt.
We will refund a donation where it was made in error, where an amount was charged twice or charged incorrectly, or where a payment was made without the account holder's authority. Write to us within fifteen days of the transaction, giving the date, amount and payment reference. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method, usually within seven to ten working days once we have authorised them, though the time taken by your bank is not something we control.
Where a refund is made, any 80G certificate already issued for that donation is cancelled, and you may not claim it.
Recurring donations can be stopped at any time by writing to us. Stopping a recurring donation ends future payments and does not refund past ones.
Donations are applied to the work of the Society. Where you give to a specific programme or sponsor a specific child, we apply the money to that purpose. If that purpose is already fully funded, or circumstances make it impossible, we will use the money for a closely related purpose and tell you.
Sponsoring a child does not create any legal relationship with the child, any right of contact or visit outside arrangements we make, and any right to the child's personal information beyond the reports we choose to share.
We cannot accept foreign contributions at this time.
Contributions from foreign sources are governed by the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010. DBM is not currently registered under that Act and does not hold prior permission under it. We are therefore not able to accept a donation from a foreign source, which under that Act includes a foreign citizen, a foreign company, and an organisation based outside India, whether or not the payment is made in Indian Rupees.
The donation facility on this site is for donations from Indian sources only. By donating, you confirm that you are not a foreign source within the meaning of the Act. If a donation reaches us from a foreign source, we will return it.
Indian citizens living abroad are generally not treated as a foreign source, but the position depends on your citizenship rather than where you live. If you are in any doubt, write to us before donating and we will confirm.
This section will be updated if our registration status changes.
The text, photographs, video, logos, design and other material on this site belong to DBM or to the people who licensed it to us, and are protected under the Copyright Act, 1957.
You may quote short extracts with credit to Deaf Biblical Ministry and a link to the source page. Anything more, including reproduction in print, use in another publication, commercial use, or any use of photographs of students, needs our written permission first.
Our name and logo may not be used in a way that suggests we endorse, are affiliated with, or are responsible for anything we have not agreed to.
When you send us a message, a photograph, a testimonial or any other material, you keep ownership of it. You give us permission to use it for the purposes for which you sent it, including replying to you and keeping a record.
If you send us something intending it for publication, you give us permission to publish, edit for length and clarity, and reuse it in our reports and appeals, with credit unless you ask otherwise. You confirm that it is yours to send, that it does not infringe anyone's rights, and that any identifiable person in it has agreed. Do not send us material identifying a child who is not your own.
We may remove or decline to publish anything at our discretion, and we are not obliged to give a reason.
We take care to keep the site accurate and current, but information here is general and may become out of date. Programme details, dates, fees, notices and statistics may change. Nothing on this site is professional, legal, medical, educational or financial advice, and it should not be relied on as a substitute for advice about your own circumstances. For anything that matters, contact us and confirm it.
Notices and documents published here are provided for convenience. Where a published notice differs from the official record held at the school office, the office record prevails.
We do not promise that the site will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. We may suspend, withdraw or change any part of it without notice, including for maintenance.
This site links to sites run by others, including our payment gateway, map listings, government pages and social media. Links are provided for convenience and do not mean we endorse the site or its contents. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them. Their terms and privacy policies apply once you leave ours.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Indian law, including liability for fraud.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or loss arising from your reliance on information on this site, from the site being unavailable, from any virus or harmful code you encounter, or from your use of any linked site. Where we are found liable in connection with your use of this site, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim arose.
This does not affect the duties we owe to our students and their families, which arise separately and are not limited by these terms.
If you use this site in breach of these terms and that causes a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and losses we incur as a result.
We may block or restrict access to the site, or withdraw a portal account, where we believe these terms have been breached, where a system is being misused, or where it is necessary to protect our students, our staff or our systems.

We acknowledge complaints within forty-eight hours and aim to resolve them within thirty days. Complaints about personal data are handled under our Privacy Policy.
If you believe a child is at risk, or that material about a child is being misused, tell us immediately by phone rather than waiting for an email reply.
We may change these terms. The effective date at the top shows when the current version took effect. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms. Changes are not applied retrospectively to a donation already made.
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Dimapur, Nagaland.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. If we do not enforce a term straight away, that does not mean we have given it up. These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about your use of this site.
